The Parkinson Association
has the following Volunteer Opportunities:
Speaker's Bureau
- Individuals must
go through the Speaker's Bureau Training Session
- Individuals must
be comfortable speaking in front of large groups
- Individuals must
have knowledge about Parkinson's Disease and the Association
Office Support
- Phone - Individuals
must be knowledgeable about Parkinson's Disease, the Association and
resources provided in the community (training will be provided)
- Mailings - copying
and stuffing envelopes
- Filing and organizing
membership cards and library materials
- Typing membership
letters and cards (computer skills required)
- Personal letter
writing, thank you calls
Research
- Computer and internet
access required.May be done at home. Report on a weekly basis any new
drug therapies, research initiatives and clinical trials in North Carolina
or South Carolina.
- Distribute information
to email member list
- Provide summaries
for the website
Events
- Symposium: registration,
breakout leader, set up, break down
- 5K Run/Walk-a-thon:
chip distribution, finish line chip collection, t-shirts, food, beverages
- Educational Fundraising
Events/Gala: participate on committee, corporate support, individual
support, set up and organization
Medical Community
Visits
- Visits to Neurology
groups every other month to provide materials
- Volunteers to
visit and set up appointments
