The award is named in honor of Bill and Betty Ray and is given to a person who has supported PAC in forwarding its mission “to serve as a resource for individuals and their families affected by Parkinson’s disease in the Carolinas, through education, community outreach and direct support.” This year’s Ray of Hope Award Recipient is Mr. Chuck Lockwood, former Board Member and continued supporter of the Parkinson Association of the Carolinas.
In addition to recognizing Chuck Lockwood, our guest speaker will be Dr. Michael S. Okun. Dr. Okun is currently Chairman of Neurology, Professor and Co-director of the Center for Movement Disorders and Neurorestoration at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He is the National Medical Director for the Parkinson’s Foundation and has been supported by many grants. Dr. Okun has also been an integral part of some of the pioneering studies exploring the cognitive, behavioral, and mood effects of brain stimulation. Please join us as he shares his professional journey and recent publications related to Parkinson’s disease.
